Sunday brought a surprise for many as the news of marriage of Mukul Wasnik, General Secretary of All India Congress Committee (AICC), with Ravina Khurana broke on social media. Wasnik had invited only a select group of top Congress leaders at a function held in a Delhi hotel on Sunday. The news first broke with Ashok Gehlot, Chief Minister of Rajasthan, tweeting a photograph of him greeting Mukul Wasnik and Ravina Khurana. “Wishing Mukul Wasnik Ji and Raveena Khurana Ji heartiest congratulations on embarking on this new journey together as a couple.
 
May the coming years prove to be the happiest time of your life. Stay blessed,” Gehlot tweeted. Another senior Congress leader Manish Tewari’s tweet also followed, “It was such a pleasure for Naaznin & I to greet the newly weds @MukulWasnik and Ravina Khurana. I met Sh. Mukul Wasnik way back in 1984 & Ravina in 1985 when all of us went for the World Festival of Youth & Students to Moscow. So happy for the two of them. May God Bless them.” By late evening, photographs of senior leaders of Congress greeting the newly-wed couple got circulated on social media and web portals. Apart from Ashok Gehlot and Manish Tewari, some other leaders who greeted Wasnik and Khurana included Anand Sharma, Ahmed Patel, Ambika Soni, and B K Hariprasad. Wasnik is General Secretary of AICC.
 
He is son of Balkrishna Wasnik, veteran Congress leader from Vidarbha and three-time Member of Parliament. Mukul Wasnik was active in student politics. He became the youngest Member of Parliament at the age of 25 years in 1984. He was National President of National Students’ Union of India, and also President of Indian Youth Congress. He got elected from Buldhana constituency of Lok Sabha multiple times. In 2009, he got elected to Lok Sabha from Ramtek constituency in Nagpur district. Then, he also became Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment when Dr Manmohan Singh was the Prime Minister.
