Holika Dahan, the custom to mark the triumph of good over evil, will be held across the state on Monday. Pandit H P Tiwari said that the shubh muhurat for Holika Dahan would be between 6.47 pm and 9.11 pm. Pandit Tiwari said that Holika Dahan is the ritual of great importance in the celebrations of Holi festival. It is the tradition of the Holi festival that depicts the death of Holika and magical evacuation of Prahlad from fire. In accordance to the Hindu scriptures the ritual of Holika Dahan that is also recalled as Holika Deepak as well as Chhoti Holi is to be performed during Pradosh Kaal that starts after the sunset and while the Purnimasi Tithi is prevailing, he added. Bhadra prevails during first half of Purnimasi Tithi and all good work should be avoided when Bhadra prevails.
 
Holi will be celebrated across the state on March 10. The Holi day when people play with colors is always next day of Holika Dahan or Holi bonfire. Meanwhile, threat of coronavirus outbreak compelled different social organisations to decide to not to celebrate Holi this year. Even Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has also announced that he would maintain distance from Holi celebration programmes in wake of coronavirus outbreak. The effect of coronavirus outbreak is being seen in local markets in the state capital where few people are seen purchasing gulal, pichkari and other items.A shopkeeper lamented that the sale of Holi items has declined in view of coronavirus outbreak and the business is badly affected due to it.
