Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiative of Fit India Movement emerged a boon for people to combat COVID-19 pandemic. The movement of keeping themselves physically fit proved a lifesaver for many citizens by keeping them protected from the infectious disease. Analysis of COVID-19 cases confirmed that people having weak immunity and poor body resistance are vulnerable to this deadly virus. The call of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for ‘Fit India Movement’ for citizens of India to come-up from sedentary lifestyle gave a clear message to ensure a healthier future of the country.
 
The campaign of Fit India Movement recalled citizens for physical fitness as much required part of routine lifestyle. Technological advancements has made the life easier in past two decades but most of the people became fond of lavish lifestyle and estranged from natural course of life.
 
The situation leads to increasing cases of hypertension, cardiac and diabetic patients in the country. According to a report of Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), around 54 per cent citizens are physically inactive, while only 10 per cent people are engaged in recreational physical activities. Around 13.5 crore people have problem of obesity and 8 crore have hypertension problem. More than 7.2 crore citizens are diabetic and 5.5 crore are suffering with cardiovascular disease while 4.2 crore people have thyroid disorders in India.
