Over 1,068 Railway staff are on duty engaged in operation of goods trains in South East Central Railway (SECR) zone. As per information received from official sources during lock down period to supply the essential commodities in different parts of country is done by Indian Railways through goods trains. Food grains, pulses, medicines, coals, edible oils, fertilizers, dairy products, etc. are supplied uninterrupted. For which of 1,068 railway staff are working round the clock dedicatedly.
 
As per directives of Divisional Railway Manager, Shyam Sunder Gupta, the responsibility of operation of these goods trains of entire Raipur Division has been given to Senior Divisional Operating Manager Dr Prakash Chandra Tripathi. During the period of lock down when entire country is enjoying holidays or advised to stay home and to work from home and curfew like situations are prevailing in country railway staff are working with all precautionary measures.
 
These staff are Station Master, Station Superintendent, Porters, Divisional Traffic Controller, Controller and staff working in control room. Raipur Division has interchanged operation of 2,044 goods trains from other divisions between March 24 to April 5, 2020. On an average about 157 goods trains were operated and 13,964 wagons were loaded. 958 wagons were loaded with food products and essential goods and daily average of 74 wagons were loaded. Apart from this 12 Covid-19 parcel specials were operated.
