Dr Kane hands over charge to Dr Chandekar

Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University Vice-Chancellor Dr Siddharthvinayak Kane handed over charge to Dr Muralidhar Chandekar, Vice-Chancellor of Sant Gadgebaba Amravati University late on Tuesday evening. The term of Dr Kane ended on Tuesday and Dr Chandekar was directed by the Chancellor to hold additional charge of RTM Nagpur University. The formal handing over of the charge took place late in the evening, around 8.30 pm, as Dr Chandekar came all the way from Amravati, after attending on-line meeting with the Chancellor.
The Chancellor Bhagat Singh Koshyari had convened a meeting of all the V-Cs to review the situation relating to the examinations, which are adversely affected due to lockdown due to outbreak of coronavirus. The colleges and the universities are not functioning as of now. The procedure for selection of new Vice-Chancellor for RTM Nagpur University has already begun. The Search Committee has been constituted and Advertisement inviting nominations has also been issued.
As completion of the procedure requires a period of not less than a month, Dr Kane handed over the charge to Dr Chandekar. The handing over of the charge took place in presence of Officiating Pro-VC Dr Vinayak Deshpande, Officiating Registrar Dr Neeraj Khaty and only a few officers of the University. The University had instructed others, including media persons not to attend the formal handing over of charge, and maintain social distancing. Earlier the Chancellor Koshyari held a meeting to review the situation and discussed options for conducting summer examinations in all the universities. The meeting continued beyond the expected time, therefore the delay in handing over the charge to Dr Chandekar. The formal handing over of the charge was held at the new Jamnalal Bajaj University Administrative Building, which was a dream project of Dr Kane.
