RAIPUR,

Terming the conducting of a mock drill as a lewd joke played against All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Raipur, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) demanded an unconditional apology from State Government. It stated that the AIIMS, Raipur doesn’t require a collector’s mock drill certificate to prove its merit and dedication. Sunil Soni, BJP State Vice-President and Raipur MP who is also a Member of AIIMS, Raipur Institute Committee, in a communiqué alleged that nothing concrete has been done by State Government towards prevention and control of Novel Coronavirus COVID-19 (SARS-CoV-2) pandemic and is trying to certify the contribution of AIIMS. Taking strong exceptions of the mock drill conducted by Dhamtari District Administration on Wednesday for examining the preparation of control and prevention of COVID-19 pandemic, he termed the exercise as a lewd joke played upon AIIMS management and team of doctors and para-medical staff engaged in the service and safety of COVID-19 infected patients.

Soni said that time is very precious for doctors and para-medical staff in AIIMS who’re engaged in treatment of COVID-19 infected patients, under such situation creating such histrionics is beyond comprehension. He alleged that State Government is unable to digest the success achieved by AIIMS and its team in treating COVID-19 infected patients and it seems this kind of tricks are played intentionally to harass them. Soni further added that AIIMS is already renowned as a medical institution both at national and international level and it doesn’t require to prove its worth through such mock drills. Soni alleged that this the same State Government which had evicted AIIMS doctors and staff from a city hotel without making any alternative arrangements and this government is now judging AIIMS’ preparations through a mock drill.

He further alleged that the State Government neither has any contribution in prevention and control of COVID-19 pandemic nor any Minister of State Government had visited AIIMS and encouraged the team. How come State Government claims to have the moral responsibility to check the preparations and issue a certificate to AIIMS which has successfully combated COVID-19 pandemic and treated almost affected patients and is continuing doing so. Raipur MP further added that it is due to the success achieved by AIIMS, Raipur in treating COVID-19 patients that State Government has been able to indulge in self-praise, such exercise by the officials of this government is unfortunate. The State Government should seek apology from the AIIMS, Raipur management for the same, demanded Soni.
