Ex-MLA Sunil Shinde passes away n He was associated with NCP chief Sharad Pawar

Sunil Shinde, ex-MLA, passed away at Katol. He was 86. He leaves behind wife and three sons. Shinde was associated with Sharad Pawar, President, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) since long and had represented Katol assembly segment from 1984-1994. He had also served as Chairperson, MHADA (Nagpur). Shinde will be remembered for his numerous agitations for Orange cultivators as he was at forefront to demand fair remunerative price and other concessions from the State Government.
 
On sidelines of winter session, Shinde used to stage unique agitation serving free Orange juice at Vidhan Bhawan in a bid to attract attention of Government and law makers to sorry state of affairs about oranges. During 1990 he established Shinde Education Society and ensure to open door of higher education for students in region of Katol-Narkhed tehsil. His endeavour opened several job opportunities for educated unemployed youth and his political influence dominated in Gram Panchayat of Sawargaon. He was also instrumental in establishment of MIDC in Katol tehsil.
 
His son, Satish Shinde has taken over the political mantle and is associated with NCP. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has condoled the death of Shinde saying the district has lost a farmers who pioneer several new techniques in farming. He recalled Shinde's agitation for orange cultivators and opened doors of education for girls with establishment of Special School for them.
 
Shinde had also filed a PIL in High Court that led to indictment of several political leaders for grabbing public utilities (PU) lands in city, he added. Anil Deshmukh, Home Minister, Maharashtra State, and MLA from Katol assembly segment, while condoling death of party colleague Sunil Shinde said he has lost a personal friend one who knew the pulse of the farmers and masses. Shinde will always be remembered for his studied approach to problems faced by people and representing the same with State Government. Deshmukh also recalled the development works carried out by Sonubaba, as Shinde was fondly called, in Katol assembly segment.
