INDIAN Administrative Service (IAS) Avinash Lavaniya took charge as 32nd Collector of Bhopal at the Collectorate on Friday morning. BMCCommissioner VS Choudhary Kolsani, Additional Collectors Ashish Vashishth, Satish Kumar S, Umrao Maravi, Zila Panchayat CEO Vikas Mishra and all the SDMs were present as he was taking charge. Prior to this, Lavania was posted as Director of Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection and had additional charge of MD Madhya Pradesh State Warehouse Corporation.
He is a 2009 batch IAS officer and has also served as a Commissioner of Bhopal Municipal Corporation, Additional Commissioner of Sales Tax, Hoshangabad Collector, and also as Commissioner of Ujjain Municipal Corporation.
Collector reviews COVID-19 situation

Soon after taking the charge, Avinash Lavaniya reviewed the present situation of coronavirus spread in the State capital.He said that to improve the recovery rate we have to do conduct more surveys and screenings. Early detection can provide treatment to patients at their early stage and will also prevent its further spread. The collector told the officials to focus more on imposing restrictions on movement in containment zones. He said that the essentials should be provided on doorsteps of the residents of containment zones.He also emphasised on increasing the pace of sampling and to conduct more and more surveys.Additional Collector Ashish Vashistha updated Lavaniya with the present scenario of district containment zone-wise and also informed him the present strategy. Zila Panchayat CEP Vikas Mishra explained about sampling and tracing of first contacts.
