Janardan Swami Yogabhyasi Mandal has actively started the preparations for the most unique celebrations of this year’s International Yoga Day on June 21. Given the corona pandemic, it has made arrangements to conduct this programme on-line by going live simultaneously on various digital platforms like Facebook, Instagram, YouTube as well as allowing practitioners to join live on the Zoom platform. To mobilise and train people, it has, like every year, created a sequence of Asan, Suryanamaskar, Pranayama, etc. Synchronised to music, it has been uploaded on all these platforms and is also being conducted live every morning at 7:30 am.

A massive outreach programme has also been undertaken, which began around a fortnight ago. This is resulting in an unprecedented response from people not only in the city or country but also from overseas enthusiasts. The pandemic situation has come as a blessing in disguise as earlier, only participants from the city could join in Yoga Day celebrations.

Now, the Mandal is getting a huge response from people across the country and abroad. It is expected that over 1 lakh people will join in this year’s celebrations and perform asan together from the safety of their homes.

It is worth mentioning here, that it was Parampujaniya Shri Janardanswami ji who had originally conceptualised the annual Yoga Day celebrations some 40 years ago, and handed over a sum of Rs 1,000/- to the then Mayor of Nagpur for the same. Ever since Prime Minister Narendra Modi had the UN recognised it in 2015, Janardan Swami Yogabhyasi Mandal has been in the forefront of the celebrations in Nagpur, partnering with Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC), which sees around 30-40,000 people participating in the programme held at the Yeshwant Stadium every year. Guruji Ram Khandwe, Secretary, Janardan Swami Yogabhyasi Mandal has urged people to register for this massive celebration by either giving a missed call on 01727191199 or directly on organization’s website onwww.jsyog.org/iyd.
