Sports Minister Kedar wants to give State a new identity

A SPORTS University will soon be coming up in Maharashtra and that will give the state a new identity in the field of sports, said Sunil Kedar, Sports and Youth Welfare Minister. Kedar was speaking during a review meeting at Divisional Sports Complex, Mankapur. The meeting was attended by Dr Jaiprakash Duble, Joint Director Sports, Pratibha Deshmukh, Deputy Director, Sports, Amravati Division; Avinash Pund, Acting Deputy Director, Nagpur Division and all the District Sports Officers.
 
With a host of coal and cement companies operating in the region, district sports department must co-ordinate with them to use their CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) funds for development of basic infrastructure, Kedar opined. He also urged the officers to look to improving performance of sportspersons of the region so that they excel at international level. Kedar also instructed the officials to think on revenue generation for the maintenance and repairs of sports complexes.
 
For the proposed sports university, the minister invited novel suggestions from all the DSOs. He also shared his thought of starting Krida Prabodhini on the lines of SAI at Chandrapur’s Ballarshah Sports Complex. During his visit, Kedar inspected the synthetic track, pavilion building and hostel. He also asked to plant trees on the huge campus.
