Online panel discussion at NEERI today to mark Environment Day

WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY TODAY

CSIR-National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (CSIR-NEERI) and Vijnana Bharati (VIBHA) will jointly celebrate World Environment Day on Friday at 4 pm. A panel discussion on ‘Urban Biodiversity and Biodiversity Preservation for Integrating Society’ has been organised on this occasion. Dr Deepak Apte, Director, Bombay Natural History Society (BNHS); Prof P P Bakre, former Professor, Rajasthan University; Jayant Sahasrabuddhe, National Organising Secretary, VIBHA; and Dr R D Jakati, former Director, Indira Gandhi National Forest Academy, will participate in the programme as expert panelists.
 
Prof Anindya Sinha, National Institute of Advanced Studies, will deliver keynote lecture. Dr Rakesh Kumar, Director, CSIR-NEERI, will deliver welcome address at the outset. Dr Atya Kapley, Senior Principal Scientist and Head, DRC, CSIR-NEERI; Naresh Chafekar, VIBHA; and Dr Rajesh Biniwale, Senior Principal Scientist and Head, CTMD, are conveners of this event. The event will be available online on CSIR-NEERI and Vijnana Bharati’s official Facebook and YouTube accounts. Various competitions have been organised to mark the world environment day, stated a press release.
 
‘Environment after Corona’ webinar today Vanarai Foundation and Green Earth Organisation have jointly organised a webinar on ‘Environment after Corona’, at 11 am on Friday to mark World Environment Day. Dr Sanjeev Kumar, Divisional Commissioner, Nagpur; Dr Satish Wate, former Director of National Environmental Engineering Research Institute; Devendra Gawande, Resident Editor of Marathi daily ‘Loksatta’; and Dr Girish Gandhi, Trustee of Vanarai Foundation, will be the chief speakers. Prof Anil Sole, MLC and President of Green Earth Organisation, will preside over the webinar that will be live-streamed on Zoom application, YouTube and Facebook, stated a press release issued here.
