After completing 40 days quarantine at Van Vihar National Park, young male tiger ‘Saran’ is to be shifted in enclosure within a week.
The park officials said that the tiger has completed quarantine protocol but the he is still very belligerent in behaviour. The park management did not allow anyone except the caretaker to go closer to the tiger. The park Director, Kamalika Mohanty said, “Sometime Saran harms himself because of his behaviour. Only caretaker is allowed to go closer to him but he has completed the quarantine protocol. Enclosure is ready for shifting the tiger within week.”
She further informed that the tiger was brought to Van Vihar from Kanha National Park on June 6 after straying out in Sarani jungle. The tiger was kept in famous Ghorela enclosure of Kanha. He had earlier entered to Betul district of State from Maharashtra. In October 2018, the tiger had attacked and killed two people in Amravati district of Maharashtra. In December 2018, the tiger wandered from the track and entered Betul district. On December 11, 2018, the tiger was rescued from Sarani area of Betul and released in wild of Satpura Tiger Reserve. The tiger was frequently moving towards residential areas.
