WITH a tally of 5 gold, 3 silver and 4 bronze medals, Maharashtra bagged honours in the ‘Kick Corona’ All India Online Karate Kata Tournament 2020 that was organised by Karate Kokusai Independent Federation of India.
The event was attended by participants from five states who made this tournament a huge success. Winners Maharashtra was followed by Assam who picked 2 gold, 3 silver and 5 bronze medals. With 2 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze Delhi bagged the third position. Tamil Nadu and Madhya Pradesh took the fourth and fifth spots respectively.
In this unique tournament participants competed in several categories according to their age groups.
Maharashtra’s Daksh Ramteke (gold, Under-11 boys); Shlok Barua (silver, U-15 boys); Garvi Rangari (gold, girls U-9); Jaishree Sapate (silver, U-11), Greshika Rangari (bronze, U-11); Kalash Gondane (gold), Prachita Patil (Silver), Janhvi Boldhan and Khushi Gupta (bronze) (all U-15); Koshangi Sawarkar (gold, 15 years and above); Vidhey Patil (gold), Ritik Maladhari (silver), Nayan Raut (bronze) (all Above-14 Black Belt category) ended up winning medals.
The main objective behind organising this tournament was to encourage young participants to practice karate during this pandemic to keep their bodies healthy. The participants in this online kata tournament were judged by Sensei Chandan Singh Jogi (Himachal Pradesh), Sensei Kumar Rajinder (Haryana), Sensei Atul Kalita (Assam), Sensei Eaish Gaurkhede (Maharashtra), Sensei Amet Tembhurne (Maharashtra), Sensei Akshay Chawre (Maharashtra) and Sensei Hema Pagare (Madhya Pradesh).
All participants were awarded participation e-certificates and cash prizes. To make this tournament successful Sensei Ganesh Rajput from Delhi, Sensei Anubhuti Gautam from Madhya Pradesh, Sensei Selvam from Tamil Nadu, Sensei Sagar, Sensei Bharat Mure, Sensei Raju Sontakke from Maharashtra along with organisers M Siddharth (Vice-President KKIFI), Sensei Shrikant Meshram, Sensei Amit Shende and Sensei Ravikant Meshram Technical Director and chief of Karate Kokusai Independent Federation of India took immense efforts.
