On fourth day, coronavirus recovery in Nagpur improves to 58.79%
 
 
Tuesday brought mixed bag for Nagpur district as far as corona cases are concerned. The district witnessed spike in corona positive cases as 1,069 new cases are detected. At the same time 1,036 became corona free. For the first time, the COVID-19 death number has hit half century in one single day. With 1,069 new cases of which 942 from city and 127 from rural, the cumulative positive cases reached 22,107. Of cumulative positive cases, 16,933 are from city while 5,024 are from Nagpur rural.
 
The district registered 50 deaths in one single day with 46 persons were the residents of city and 4 of rural taking the cumulative deaths to 728. There is a good news as far as recovery is concerned. On fourth consecutive day, the district experienced further improvement in recovery rate that stands at 58.79%. Of 1,036 total recovery cases, 972 are from city and 64 are from Nagpur rural. This has taken the cumulative recovery cases to 13,068 with 9,206 are from urban and 3,862 from Nagpur rural.
 
At present the statistics of active cases include 8,343 cumulative active that includes 5,241 put under home isolation being positive asymptomatic. The samples came positive were examined at virology laboratory of Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Hospital (IGGMCH) (159), Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) (59), molecular diagnostic laboratory of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) (131), National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEERI) (58), Centre for Zoonosis, Nagpur Veterinary College affiliated to Maharashtra Animal Fisheries Sciences University (MAFSU) (0), private laboratories (453), Antigen (211).

Mundhe tests COVID-19 +ve Tukaram Mundhe, Municipal Commissioner, tested positive for coronavirus on Tuesday. Since, he is asymptomatic he has put himself under home isolation. He himself has tweetted this development. In his tweet Mundhe says, “I have isolated myself as per the protocol and guidelines. I request those who have come in my contact in last four days to get themselves tested. I am working from home to monitor the situation arose out of pandemic in Nagpur. I am confident that we will win.”
 
Mangalwari tops in +ve cases It one has a look at the zone-wise coronavirus positive cases, highest 129 are in Mangalwari zone. 94 are from Ashi Nagar zone, 85 are from Gandhibag, 52 from Dharampeth zone, Dhantoli (48), Hanuman Nagar (45), Laxmi Nagar (43), Nehru Nagar (39), Lakadganj (36). Surprisingly the area that witnessed fast spread of COVID-19 - Satranjipura has only 11 positive cases.

Dr Bharne tests +ve Additional Commissioner of Police (Addl CP) Crime Dr Nilesh Bharne was home quarantined on Tuesday after he was tested positive for Covid-19 infection. He will work from home under the observation of doctors, said a police official. Dr Bharne was instrumental in sending migrant workers to their states and arranging food for lakhs of needy people during lockdown in the city. The official said that as Additional CP Dr Bharne is asymptomatic, he was not admitted at the hospital. Dr Bharne has appealed to those who had come in his contact for last 14 days to get tested. The office of Commissioner of Police at Patel Bungalow in Sadar is closed for visitors till August 31. A press release informed that the CP office is being sanitized with disinfectant to contain spread of coronavirus.
