Tasneem becomes city 2nd topper in CBSE Std 12 Science after re-evaluation

With additional 12 marks added to her tally after she opted for re-evaluation, city’s Tasneem Vali has become the new second topper in CBSE Std 12 Science stream, on Wednesday. Now, her revised score stands 97.6 per cent. Tasneem, a student of Centre Point School, Wardhaman Nagar, challenged the board for her marks in Engineering Graphics (EG) paper.
 
Her earlier score in EG paper was 86 and after re-evaluation she scored 98 marks. Tasneem overtook Aashna Chopra of Centre Point School, Katol Road who scored 97.4 per cent in the examination. “I was sure that my marks will increase after re-evaluation but never thought that I will score 12 marks in EG and became second city topper,” said Tasneem to The Hitavada. After getting 12 marks Tasneem scored 488 out of 500 in the exam. He scored 99 in English, 98 each in Chemistry, Mathematics and Engineering Graphics and 95 in Physics. Tasneem believes that hard work, regular study and practice helped her to become second topper in the examination. “Consistency in academics is needed to perform well in any examination. I started my preparation from the beginning that reduced my exam time stress.
 
Even it helped me to do more revision before examination,” said Tasneem. She said, “Every student should follow the NCERT books which is enough and do self study instead of joining any coaching.” Tasneem’s father Adnan Vali is a businessman and mother Jumana Vali runs a home bakery. Tasneem also has a younger sister.
 
“My parents always encouraged me and never let me take stress during exam time,” said Tasneem. Tasneem who belongs to a renowned business family of the city is planning to make her career in Architecture and she started preparation for the entrance examinations. Drawing and creative writing is her hobby and she participated in different competitions at school level. Tasneem also shared the credit with teachers who always guided her for the right and helped her to perform well. “School teachers played a major role in my success as they always cleared my doubts and also encouraged me,” she added.
