Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) will regularise bus service from Nagpur to Pune, and Nagpur to Aurangabad from Monday, following increasing response from the passengers. The officers will work out the plan for this purpose on Sunday. Nagpur Region of MSRTC started at least one long-distance bus daily from Ganeshpeth Main Bus Station to Pune and Aurangabad from August 24, carrying 20/22 passengers.

These buses went directly from Nagpur to their destinations. As more passengers came to Ganeshpeth station to enquire about the long-distance buses, MSRTC can operate second bus to the abovesaid places, depending on the response, Nilesh Belsare, Divisional Controller, MSRTC, Nagpur Region, told ‘The Hitavada’. At present, there is no set time-table for buses. Amravati-Pune bus service is also operational. Belsare said that after resuming the services 10 days ago, MSRTC had sent 50 buses on the first day to various stations in Vidarbha.

“Now, the number of buses going out has gone up to 150 per day to Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Yavatmal, Amravati, Pandharkawda, Hinganghat, and other places. However, their timing is not fixed. It depends on the response. Now, there is a bus for each of the abovesaid stations after one hour from 7 am to 8 am daily. The average of passengers in each bus is 20,” he said.

To a question, Belsare replied that MSRTC has started courier service from August 20 for small parcels, letters and other materials. Each goods carrier bus has capacity to carry 10 tons of goods, but it was not easy to get that much of load every time from one customer. Therefore, he said, MSRTC higher authorities are thinking of introducing collection centres at every bus station to gather one ton, 50 kg, one quintal goods, and carry the load as per capacity.
