There is a ray of hope for Fishery Science College, Jabalpur to get ICAR accreditation for the first time in Madhya Pradesh. Nanaji Deshmukh Veterinary Science University’s Fishery Science College has been given budget of Rs 1 crore under National Agricultural Higher Education Project (NAHEP) which is financed by the World Bank. NDVSU Principal Investigator and Fish Farm In-charge, Dr S K Mahajan informed that under the direction of Vice-chancellor, Dr. Sita Prasad Tiwari, they had given a representation for development of Fishery Science College before Indian Council for Agriculture Research (ICAR).

The project got approval and budget of Rs. 1 crore was sanctioned for development of infrastructure and other resources for providing better academic and practical facilities with smart classes, central lab and its equipments to students and research scholars of Fishery Science College. Once the targeted will be completed, Fishery Science College will get accreditation from ICAR.

On the basis of accreditation, the State Government will fund the appointment of new faculties for extension of academic and research facilities at Fishery Science College. It may be noted that the Fishery Science College is deprived of any funding from the State Government since last three years which is badly hurdling the appointment of faculties and imparting better education to students and research scholars.
