The State Government will review the corona crisis situation in State on September 28. Talking to mediapersons here on Saturday, Forest Minister Mohammad Akbar said that the State Government would review the corona crisis situation in State on Monday and take a decision on extending the lockdown period, which has been clamped in various districts in State, to put a break on the chain of infectious coronavirus. Raipur, Bilaspur, Durg, Korba, Rajnandgaon and many other districts in State are under lockdown, owing to the spread of the pandemic bringing to a halt all financial and other activities. In Raipur, Durg, Bilapsur and Korba, there is a complete lockdown for a week. With the date for the scheduled completion nearing, there is apprehension whether the Government would withdraw the lockdown or extend it.
Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel is likely to hold a meeting with his cabinet ministers and senior officers on September 28 to review corona crisis situation and take final decision on the extension of lockdown in State and the capital Raipur, where the lockdown will end on September 28. It may be mentioned that the District Administration has enforced lockdown in State capital from 9 pm on September 21 till September 28 midnight and in many other districts across State a similar lockdown has been enforced.
A senior official on condition of anonymity stated that though they have no information regarding any meeting to be called by the Chief Minister to review the situation, but in all probability the lockdown will not be extended beyond a period as it will affect the livelihood of many people who are already in deep trouble due to the lock down. The official agreed that the coronavirus is spreading leap and bound in State; and Government and Administration will have to look for the best means and ways to contain the pandemic in State so that the people heave a sigh of relief.
