As the students continue to be at home due to the COVID-19 lockdown, IIT-HOME has taken all its operations online so that the students do not miss out on their studies. For the safety of all the students, the institute will continue to operate online only till December 2020. Anticipating the difficulties of ‘learning from home’ due to the non-availability of proper devices, IIT- HOME has decided to provide laptops to each one of its students taking admission in the institute in the academic year 2020-2021, without taking any additional charges from them. Moreover, in consideration of the impact of COVID-19 on people’s income, IIT-HOME has not increased its fees this year.
The market price of the Lenovo laptops provided to the students is around Rs 35,000 each. Students of IIT- HOME are reportedly very happy to receive the laptops which is helping them a lot in their online studies. “There was an acute shortage of laptops in the market because of lockdown and ‘work from home’, which made it very difficult to procure them in such large numbers and also lead to delays in their arrival”, said the Managing Director of the institute Nisha Kothari.
“However, with the personal attention and support of Ashish Sikka, the national level Director at Lenovo India, the deal was successfully completed”, clarified Nisha Kothari. She further added that great support was received for the deal from the technical consultants of IIT-HOME, Madan Tiwari and Mukul Pande. IIT-HOME has its one and only one centre of operation in the Nagpur city.
