Swift car driver killed as vehicle crashes into truck

A car driver was killed on the spot and a cyclist was injured seriously when a speeding Swift car crashed into a truck near Omkar Nagar Square in Ajni Police Station area on Sunday night. The deceased was identified as Sandip Borate, a resident of Shilpa Society, Narendra Nagar, while injured cyclist is - Gunwant Bhakre. Bhakre is working as security guard. Traffic movement on the busy Ring Road came to a grinding halt for an hour after the bizarre accident.
A police official said that the Swift car was heading towards Manewada Square from Shatabdi Square in a great speed. The car driver lost control over the wheels while trying to overtake a truck and crashed the car into the truck from behind. Soon after, the car went out of control and collided on the road divider. An eye-witness said that the car flipped several times before coming to a halt on the road. In the process, the cyclist was also sustained injuries as the car hit him.
A large number of onlookers gathered at the spot which thrown the traffic on the busy road out of gear. Staff of Ajni police station present at Shatabdi square rushed to the spot and rescued the profusely bleeding car driver. The car driver and the pedestrian were rushed to the hospital for treatment. The police officer claimed that the car driver breathed his last at the hospital.
The Swift car was badly mangled in the accident. The police are checking the CCTV footage to ascertain exact reason of the accident. The police officer said that the car was moving at the great speed when the accident occurred. A case will be registered under the provisions of Indian Penal Code and Motor Vehicle Act after investigation, the official said.
