As suggested by Chancellor of universities in Maharashtra Bhagat Singh Koshyari, Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU) has decided to conduct Multiple Choice Questions-based final year examinations. After the meeting of Education Minister Uday Samant with Chancellor, it was decided that universities would convene a meeting of Board of Examinations, Academic Council and Management Council as soon as possible and submit the report on Monday. Accordingly RTMNU conducted the meeting and came up with the above decision.

Vice-Chancellor Dr Subhash Chaudhari while addressing mediapersons said, “The examinations are divided into two-- one is practical or internal and others are written or main examinations. The internal or practical examinations will be looked after by the respective colleges. The main examinations that will be on-line based on multiple choice questions.” Revealing the details regarding holding of the examinations Registrar Dr Neeraj Khaty and Director of Evaluation and Assessment Dr Prafulla Sable said, “The internal or practical examinations will begin from September 15 and are expected to conclude by September 30. The main examinations to be conducted by university would begin on October 1. Colleges are expected to complete their internal examinations by the end of September.

They would send the marks to university as per the usual practice.” University has given stress on the on-line examination, but in case if students have no internet facility, offline examination would also be held after the completion of on-line examinations. Their modalities will be decided afterwards considering the situation of coronavirus pandemic. University Grants Commission had already made clear in its advisory that the respective universities would take a call as per the situation prevails in their districts. RTMNU is planning to develop an App through Promarc Logistics, a corporate company that is looking after the complete technological part of examination section including holding on-line valuation.

The final decision about the features yet has not taken. There is a provision of mock test so that students should not get confused while writing examinations. Back subject exams is responsibility of colleges The examinations of subjects of earlier semesters of the students who have not cleared them and now are appearing in final semester will be conducted by the respective colleges. The colleges will set the papers, they will hold examinations, do the evaluation and submit the marks with university. Results of some cancelled exams are out The University has started declaring the results of cancelled examinations as per the formula. The examinations have been cancelled due to Covid-19 pandemic.

Their evaluation is made and university started the procedure of announcing the results. The examination department faced some problems of lack of manpower as number of persons from staff in examination department tested positive for Covid-19 plus an employee died because of this dreaded disease. The department had to stop work for 5-6 days. This has resulted in late declaration of results. Welcoming the move by university of declaring results Dr Feroz Haidry, Professor of Urdu Department at Morris College said this would relieve the students who are under stress.

‘Students, don’t change phone number please’ RTMNU examinations department has appealed students not to change their mobile numbers which are submitted with examination department during the registration. According to one official, students are habitual of changing their numbers. Once their number is registered with the system, the university would send every information to them on those numbers. In case of change in number the students would not get the update about the examinations as the new number would not be in the system of University. It will pose problem for students as well as university.
