RTMNU to confer LLD upon CJI Sharad Bobde

Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU) has decided to confer honourary Doctorate of Law (LLD) upon Chief Justice of India (CJI) Sharad Arvind Bobde. Justice Bobde, who hails from Nagpur, has done his graduation from Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Law College of Nagpur University. Justice Bobde is an Indian judge serving as the 47th and current Chief Justice of India. He is a former Chief Justice of Madhya Pradesh High Court. He is also serving as the Chancellor of Maharashtra National Law University, Mumbai and Maharashtra National Law University, Nagpur.
 
The proposal to confer the LLD upon CJI Bobde was moved by Adv Parijat Pande, Member of Maharashtra and Goa Bar Council in the third week of March last. Dr S P Kane was Vice-Chancellor (V-C) of RTMNU then. Surprisingly, nobody took any cognisance during the tenure of Dr Kane. Adv Pande’s proposal got support from Vishnu Changde, Member of Management Council. The proposal got momentum when Dr Subhash Chaudhari took over as V-C of RTMNU. In recently concluded meeting of Management Council the proposal got nod, revealed highly placed sources in the varsity. With Management Council approving the proposal, the University has to wait till it gets green signal from the Senate. The Senate will meet in March, 2021.
