SHIVA Iyer seems to be invincible these days. In the last two events, he has won all his 16 games. On Sunday, he emerged as the lone player to have the slate clean and bagged the SN Shrivastava and Kalavatidevi Shrivastava Memorial Nagpur District Rapid Chess title. Iyer and Sumedh Ramteke were the overnight leaders leading with four points each after four rounds but while Iyer went on to win all his four matches on second and final day of the tourney, Ramteke could add just 1.5 points to his score.
Playing with light coloured pieces on top board in the final round, Iyer outsmarted Kaustav Barat. Aditya Bodkhe with seven points clinched the second spot. The event was organised by Nagpur District Chess Association at lichess.org. As many as 48 players fought for a prize money of Rs 5,000. This tournament was conducted under the supervision of IA Pravin Pantawane and FA Umesh Panbude. RESULTS (Round 8) : Shiva Iyer (8) bt Kaustav Barat (5.5), Krupal Wanjari (5.5) lost to Aditya Bodkhe (7), Harsh Nachankar (4.5) lost to Chetan Deodhagale (5), Prerak Darvekar (5.5) drew with Sumedh Ramteke (5.5), Nilay Kulkarni (5.5) drew with Dishank Bajaj (5.5), T Chandran (5.5) bt Shraddha Bajaj (5), Vidhi Mishrikotkar (5) bt Akshay Patil (4), Shivansh Rajurkar (5) bt PJ Ramteke (4), Aarav Dharmik (5) bt Lakshita Rathod (4), Jayesh Sure (3) lost to VK Shrivastava (3).
