The Agriculture Scientist Interface Meeting on the topic ‘Climate Friendly Agriculture Technique’ was called at Jabalpur-based Directorate of Weed Research, Indian Council of Agriculture Research (ICAR) on Tuesday. A total of 184 farmers, agriculture scientists and technical officers participated in the event from different areas of Jabalpur. Dr J S Mishra, Director, Directorate Weed Research, said that the farmers can increase their production and income by adopting advanced techniques for management of new challenges occur in the agriculture sector following climate change. Dr P K Singh, Principal Scientist said that the farmers need to opt for other alternatives to increase their income in the changing scenario in agriculture sector. During the programme, Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi dedicated 35 crop varieties to the nation through video conferencing.
 
He also dedicated the newly constructed premise of National Bio Stress Management Institute, Raipur to the nation and distributed Green Campus Award to the Agriculture Universities. Prime Minister, Modi while interacting with the farmers, said that whenever Science, Government and Community work together, it reaps better result. The joint team of farmers and scientists would strengthen the nation to rectify new challenges. Dr R P Dubey, Principal Scientist provided detail information about nutritious food grains.
 
The experts provided significant information about new challenges coming fore like less agriculture production due to climate change, untimely and less rainfall, rise in temperature and harmful gases in the environment. They also informed about advanced techniques to redress these challenges including climate friendly crop varieties taking less time to ripe, reserved farming, induction of nutritional food grain in the crop cycle and weed management. The farmers were presented with spraying kits. Dr V K Choudhary anchored the programme.
