Construction of State’s longest railway tunnel commences

The 3,338-metre broad gauge, single line underground Tunnel No.1 will be constructed at the Rewa-Sidhi section between Govindgarh and Bagwar stations 
 
West Central Railway (WCR) is constructing 3,338-metre broad gauge, single line underground Tunnel No.1 at Rewa-Sidhi section which will be the longest railway tunnel of Madhya Pradesh to facilitate crossing of Chuhiya Ghati located on the borders of Rewa and Sidhi district. This railway tunnel is being constructed between Govindgarh and Bagwar stations under New Rail Line Project. West Central Railway undertook various precautionary measures before commencing construction of railway tunnel.
 
The concerned officers of West Central Railway conducted an in-depth research of the design and structure of railway tunnel before starting construction of tunnel. Moreover, Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology (MANIT) Bhopal was roped in for technical assistance and tunnel construction. Blasting was done after obtaining permission from District Administration. The excavation work for tunnel was done according to the approved design. The construction work was started from both ends simultaneously i.e. Govindgarh (Rewa) and Bagwar (Sidhi) with high-quality drilling machine. Rocks bolts are being placed to provide support to the tunnel.
