Innovations in technology might have led to reducing hardships for people but on the flip side excessive dependence on gadgets has led to onslaught on the Indian ecosystem. Alongside, inability of society to by-pass failure is resulting in an exponential rise in cases of mental tension that threatens the country's growth story. Realising urgent need to address the situation, Wardha based Institute of Socio-Psychological Health and Addiction (ISHA) has introduced tele-counselling facility as same would immediately help people to tide over their nagging problems through sound counsel by experts.
Saying so, Dr Pradip Patil, Head of Department (HoD), Psychiatry, Acharya Vinoba Bhave Rural Hospital, Sawangi (Meghe), pointed out timing is most critical factor and it’s utmost necessary to let out the steam building up before it explodes.
With this aim in mind, ISHA has conceptualised Club Emotion and Club Motivation, as they want to keep focus on two most important aspects in human mind that is a sea of emotions. A right ‘disha’ at the right moment is extremely critical and handling human emotions, ranging from outbursts to extreme negativity to sudden change in lifestyle involves quite complex situation. “We at ISHA have trained manpower to address critical situation by offering simplistic advises and post tele-interaction there would be follow-up through symposium and other activities. Right now, the tele-counselling will be available at Sawangi (Meghe) in Wardha and in Nagpur,” said Dr Patil while talking to The Hitavada.
With economic progress, there is sudden rise in expectations and Indian society finds itself at cross-roads while being bombarded with western intrusion that is affecting lifestyle and posing challenges to established norms. Also there is issue of excessive competition to changing value system. Amidst this scenario, there is need for someone to spare time and give a patient hearing and provide sound advice to steer through the complex maze. The tele-counselling facility is an idea to provide access to people who can open up and share their feelings and find a best possible way to overcome the problems in their lives.
In earlier times, such issues used to be resolved within the family eco-system, but with changing era and dispersion of joint families, the mental issues are getting choked and they are needed to be addressed at right juncture. “Hence we at ISHA would deal with such nagging issues plaguing the people and provide them proper guidance and counselling to deal with the challenges in life,” said Dr Patil further.
"We are finding relations collapsing under burden of expectations, people are increasingly becoming recluse and suffering in silence so we psychiatrist are eager to provide a platform to each one in need and at right time", Dr Patil opined as he outlined the issues that would be dealt by ISHA. The initiative is not intended with commercial angle but a rather small give back to society.
The key to overcoming mental tension is early detection and its treatment and that too by involving the community.
Also there is need to find ways to reduce the stigma association with mental health through public awareness for which community session would be organised.
As to competitive era of today, the Club Motivation can handle the matter more professionally as same can work wonders in even critical situations.
Dr Patil said whosoever need can get in contact with ISHA through email
