Vice-Chancellor of Indira Gandhi Krishi Vishwavidyalaya (IGKV) Raipur Dr S S Senger on Monday interacted with the teachers and students associated with Rural Entrepreneurship Awareness Development Yojana (Ready) during a day-long webinar. Meanwhile, the institute’s vice chancellor also shared his ideas and experiences with the teachers as well as the students. Addressing the webinar, Dr Senger said that READY is an ambitious programme of Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) under which agricultural graduates in its first semester of final year get the opportunity to learn agriculture and its related activities from farmers by staying in rural areas and inform farmers about the new agricultural technologies.
This programme ensures students an opportunity to transform their theoretical knowledge gained during the education into practical and learn the basic skills and problems of farming, elaborated Dr Senger. Under READY, students are made to visit agro-based industries and units due to which agricultural entrepreneurship develops in them, said Dr Senger. Amid the serious challenges posed by COVID-19 pandemic, IGKV and all the colleges successfully executed READY and this is a major achievement of the university, Dr Senger said. The webinar was also addressed by dean of Agricultural College Raipur Dr M P Thakur and dean of Agricultural Engineering College Dr V K Pandey also addressed webinar.
