Mayor inspects anicut at Kharun river

 

 

Raipur Municipal Corporation (RMC) Mayor Aijaz Dhebar on Tuesday inspected the check-dam at Mahadev Ghat on river Kharun to observe the discharge of effluent from Goverdhan nullah area. Mayor Aijaz Dhebar took a boat ride with RMC Health Department in-charge Nagbhusan Rao, Culture Department in-charge Akash Tiwari during the inspection. Mayor observed the mixing of contaminated water into river.

 

During the inspection, Mayor called up RMC Zone-8 Commissioner Arun Dhruw and directed him to send a special team to clean up the foam from river with utmost priority. Mayor Dhebar instructed officials take up the remaining 10 per cent work of Sewerage Treatment Plant to expedite the construction. Officials told mayor that 90 per cent has been completed and remaining part will soon be finished. It will resolve the long-standing issue of discharge of effluent in river Kharun.
