“Media plays an important role in democracy and it works as a bridge between society and the Government,” Gwalior Collector Koushlendra Vikram Singh said while addressing a swearing-in ceremony of newly appointed office-bearers of photo journalist cell of Madhya Pradesh Patrakar Sangh (MPPS). Superintendent of Police of Gwalior Amit Sanghi was present as a special guest in the event which was organised by MPPS at the Press Club. Addressing the journalists, Collector Singh said that although all mediapersons have importance in society, work of photo and video journalists is riskier because they discharge their duty on the spot even in the adverse situations. SP Amit Sanghi said that he would instruct police officers and staff that photo journalists would be allowed for coverage in various events and on crime spots in any way, without any hindrance.
 
Sanghi also said that photojournalists can contact him any time if they face any problem during discharging his duty. Founder General Secretary of MPPS Rajesh Sharma, State President Surendra Mathur, State Chief of Electronic Media Cell Raj Dubey, PRO Hitendra Bhadouria, and senior journalists of the city also addressed photo journalists. On the occasion, Collector Singh and SP Sanghi hailed initiative taken by the MPPS and they administered the oath to newly appointed photo journalists. The programme was convened by Vice-President of the Cell, Rakesh Verma, General Secretary of the cell, Ravi Upadhyay threw light on relevance of the organisation. Guests honoured photo journalists by presenting them jackets. Those present on the occasion included Rajesh Jaiswal Chhotu, Ravi Upadhyay, Jaideep Singh Sikarwar, Rakesh Verma, Shashi Bhushan Pandey, Ravindra Singh Chauhan, Raghuveer Kushwaha, Manish Sharma, Mukesh Batham, Kok Singh Rajput, Shahid Khan, Sanjay Bhatnagar and others.
