ABHI Shivhare of Vidarbha Konkan Gramin Bank won the title and Arun Singh of Union Bank of India finished runner-up in the Late Suresh Khandekar Inter-Bank Chess Tournament that concluded recently. The event was organised by Bankers’ Sports Council, Nagpur at Dhanwate National College Sports Complex, Dhantoli under the auspices of Nagpur District Chess Association. Players from RBI, Union Bank, Canara Bank, VKGB, Punjab National Bank, Nagpur Nagarik Sahakari Bank took part in the tournament. Late Khandekar was among founder member of Bankers’ Sports Council, Nagpur and was an ex-employee of Punjab National Bank. He used to participate in various activities of the organisation.
 
At the outset, the tournament was inaugurated at the hands of Vijaya Khandekar, wife of late Suresh Khandekar by making a move on the chess board. Ramesh Thakur, President, BSC, welcomed Khandekar. Sheetal Panbude was Chief Arbiter of Tournament. Prafulla Nandedkar, Secretary, BSC proposed a vote of thanks. Ravi Joshi, Joint Secretary of BSC, Gayatri Panbude, Rajesh Joshi, Treasurer of BSC; Pallavi Khandekar, CD Manke and Rahul Deshpande were present.
