THE selection trials for Khelo India coaching centre at Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University’s Sports Complex, off Ravi Nagar, got under way on Tuesday. RTMNU Management Council Member Prof Dr Milind Barahate inaugurated the event.
The inaugural programme was attended by Dr Ghanshyam Makkasare, Sports Authority of India’s Observer Vijay Patil (Mumbai) and Army Sports Institute Pune’s coach Pravin Kumar. Over 700 sportspersons from Nagpur, Aurangabad, Yavatmal, Nasik, Pune, Raipur, Chandrapur and Riwa are taking part in the trials. Around 120 sportspersons (60 boys and 60 girls) in badminton, basketball, athletics and handball will be selected for the camp, informs a press release issued by Dr Sharad Suryawanshi, Director, Physical Education and Sports, RTMNU.
The technical judges for the events are Dr Jayant Burade (badminton), Dr Vibekanand Singh (athletics), Dr Ashwin Chandel (basketball), Indrajeet Singh Randhawa (handball). SSK Naidu, Gurudev Nagrale, Dr Nitin Jangitwar welcomed the guests. Dr Sanjay Chaudhary conducted the programme while Dr Aditya Soni proposed a vote of thanks.
