Predicts ‘Ghar Vapsi’ into Congress fold
Congress to fight with farmers till three laws are repealed
Nana Patole, the newly-appointed Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee President has vowed to make Congress the number one party in State and regain its earlier position of largest political outfit. He expressed his resolution while talking to mediapersons at Press Club on Wednesday. Patole came to Nagpur after taking charge of MPCC Head amidst tumultuous welcome by workers and presence of all local leaders. Patole candidly admitted that Congress had lost its number one position and slid to fourth position. “I shall endeavor to make party vibrant, hit the streets in public interest, fine-tune organisation and occupy the top slot in State,” he announced to encourage young and energetic party workers and those with elective merit and also hinted at massive ‘Ghar Vapsi’ of those who left Congress during last regime but were now keen to rejoin their old party.
The newly-appointed MPCC President expressed happiness over the warm welcome accorded to him and stated that such spontaneous display of energy would revive the party within State where large numbers still like ideology of Congress party. It will make the leaders in large number, who joined other parties feel to return to the Party’s fold,” affirmed Patole. Replying to possible friction between constituents of Mahavikas Aghadi due to his aggressive policies, Patole made it clear that every party has a right to expand and strengthen its organisation and political base. Party high command has already declared the team of MPCC to work with me. I will give ample opportunity to the new faces.” Patole also took a dig at Union Government over farm-bill issue and took pot-shots at Prime Minister while promising to fight along with farmers till the three bills are not withdrawn.
District Congress President Rajendra Mulak, City President and MLA Vikas Thakre, MLC Adv Abhijit Wanjari, Dr Baban Taywade, Atul Londhe, Atul Kotecha, Vishal Muttemwar, Raja Tidke, Tanaji Wanve, and other leaders accompanied Patole. Mixture of new and old faces “We have senior and experienced leaders in Party. I want their blessings as well as their guidance. At the same time, youngsters work with an expectation. I shall select such enthusiastic force within the Party and bring them up. I shall not keep the old leaders aside as they are the foundation of the party. Any party succeeds if it values its own senior leaders. Congress in Maharashtra will run on the basis of this principle,” Patole clarified while making it clear that he would prefer a right mix of old guard and youngsters. Will evaluate work of ‘Congress ministers’ The ministers belong to Congress in Mahavikas Aaghadi Government are doing good work and they will keep doing so. Unfortunately Congress has failed to promote their good works. I shall coordinate with the Congress Ministers, take stock of their works and we will chalk out a strategy through which their works would be promoted, Patole commented. Assembly Speaker post will remain with Congress Describing the discussion about his likely induction in State Cabinet with Energy portfolio and possible elevation of Energy Minister Dr Nitin Raut as Deputy Chief Minister, completely baseless and imaginary, Patole stated, “No change will be made in the present ministry. Secondly, in Budget Session the election for Assembly Speaker will be conducted.”
