Bundeli dance was main attraction during Gamak series staged at Tribal Museum. Gamak series is organised by Adivasi Lok Kala Evam Boli Vikas Academy. Bhopalites enjoyed Bundeli Gayan and tribal dance forms on Tuesday at Madhya Pradesh State Tribal Museum. ‘Bundeli Gayan’ was performed by Mayank Tiwari and group, Sagar and Bhil tribal dance ‘Bhagoria, Pali and Doha’ performed by Pratap Sisodia and group, Dhar. Mayank has been playing Dholak for almost 35 years, he has done MA from dholak and tabla.
 
The performance was a Bhil tribal dance ‘Bhagoria, Pali and Doha’ by Pratap Sisodia and group. Bhil tribal dance ‘Bhagoria’ is held in Phagun Mass seven days before Holi, with full enthusiasm and zeal by Bhil youths and young women with traditional colourful clothes, jewellery which is called Bhagoria dance. Diwari in Bundelkhand is performed every year during the Festival of Light Diwali/Deepawali in the end of October or first week of November according to lunar calendar.
 
In this connection the epic story goes that ‘in Gokul’ when Lord Krishna raised Govardhan Parvat on his finger tip to save his villagers and associates (milkmen), they danced in joy. The dancers wear multi-coloured apparels and the chief dancer holds peacock feathers in his hands and the rest stick those feathers in their half pants. The main instruments used in this dance are ‘Dholak’ and ‘Nagaria’. The dance was followed by Bhakti Sangeet of Rajesh Mishra and troupe.
