Kurai Police team with the accused and seized bundles of 500 notes hidden in a car bonnet.

Cash amounting to about Rs 1.74 crore being transported from Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh was found hidden in the bonnet of a car. In order to avoid detection at police check posts, the accused had conspired to hide the cash in the bonnet, but some notes got burnt due to short circuit or overheating of engine. Passers-by informed the police about the half-burnt notes scattered on the road. Kurai police arrested the three accused and seized Rs 1.74 crore in cash from them. Notes amountinf to about Rs 1.5 lakh were burnt. According to the police, the accused were arrested late evening on the Seoni-Nagpur National Highway. All the police stations have been directed by the Superintendent of Police, Seoni, Kumar Prateek for the control and action of illegal activities.
In compliance with the instructions, police received information from passers-by on January 31 that burnt notes were seen flying from a car. On receipt of the above information, Police Station In-charge, Kurai, was ordered by Additional SP, Kamlesh Kharpuse and SDO (Police) Barghat, Shashikant Sarayam to act on the information. The police immediately checked on the information and suspicious vehicle was stopped and the vehicle was searched. On searching, burnt notes were found in the bonnet of car.
The persons in the said car were questioned during which the suspect Hariom Yadav told that he was a driver in Mumbai. His brother Harinath was working ar Dashrath Soni Jewellers shop in Varanasi, UP. He often brought cash in his car from Varanasi and took gold and silver from Mumbai or Delhi. At present, Hariom Yadav’ car was not working so he took his friend Sunil’s Innova numbered (MH 01AH 7264) with Gyas Babu from Mumbai on January 29 via Bhusaval, Indore, Dewas, Jhansi, Kanpur, Allahabad route and reached Etawah. Before Allahabad at Chacha Dhaba, Harinath Yadav came in a motorcycle with one man and left the money which was in the packet in the car, and from there, they three in car were passing through the Jabalpur road via Seoni.
Then the vehicle caught fire due to a short circuit as a result of engine heat near Suktara. When the driver opened the bonnet of the engine, the notes kept hidden near the engine started burning and were scattered in the air, which were seen by passers0by who reported the matter to the police. Arrested accused included Hariom Yadav, resident Moti Shah Lane Mazgaon, Mumbai, Sunil Verma, resident of Soin Koliwada police station Antipar, Mumbai and Ghyas Babu, resident of Bhendi Bazaar, Mumbai. Police seized Rs 1,74,00,000, Rs 1,87,500 partially burnt notes and 81 notes of Rs 500 burnt in large quantity. Commendable work was done by TI, Manoj Gupta, constable Rohit Kakodia, R.
