Internationally acclaimed chess coach Grandmaster RB Ramesh will be virtually inaugurating VNIT Chess Club on Saturday at 5 pm.

Over the last couple of years, Nagpur has emerged as one of the chess power houses in India. With the likes of GM Raunak Sadhwani, WIM Divya Deshmukh, Vaibhav Raut and many other young talents performing well in chess.

VNIT, well-equipped with modern labs and research facilities, is also investing in sports facilities.

VNIT has constructed a new indoor sports complex, modernised play grounds and is constructing Olympic standard swimming pool.

In this series of new additions, a need for a chess club was felt by all the students and faculties. The institution thus decided to start a chess club in its premises. The inaugural function will be attended by prominent chess personalities from Nagpur like IM Anup Deshmukh, Manoj Itkelwar among others. Prof PM Padole, the Director VNIT will be prominently present during the inauguration function. Prof VS Adane and Dr BA Rajpathak, club incharges along with Deans and faculties, students and alumni will also attend the online inauguration programme.
