CYBER security agencies are on their toes in India to ward off a relentless campaign by China-based hackers through various modes. The latest attack has come through a malicious free gift campaign using the name of Tata Motors. The campaign has gone viral as even highly-educated people are falling to the lure of free gifts offered through a fake website ‘Tata Motor Cars’. Many have lost their browser and system information as well as cookie data to the hackers through this campaign.
The Tata Motors Cars gift offer is just one of the tools used by Chinese-based hackers to infiltrate into Indian systems. Many go undetected due to lack of cyber security mechanism. But the onus is also on the common people using tech-based communication platforms like the WhatsApp to verify the authenticity of such lucrative offers. Unfortunately, knowledge of cyber system and technologies is abysmally poor in India. It leads to a free haven for hackers sitting outside the country to breach into individual systems and pilferage their data. The danger rises manifold when the malware attacks target companies, for, there is a huge risk of financial fraud through hacked data. Cyber vigilance is the only solution for all.
