designs of Chinese military targeting systems storing critical data in various countries have yet again been exposed by the world’s largest provider of Intelligence for enterprise security Recorded Future. Identifying malware commonly used for cyber espionage, the firm has found out direct connection of the malware families with the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) of China. The hackers have been targetting important sectors including aerospace, defence and telecommunications in many countries including India. This new revelation on cyber espionage must be seriously taken for a quick-fix given the fragile relations between India and China after last year’s Galwan Valley clash. Apart from other countries in the region, including Pakistan, China has special interests in intruding into high-profile sectors in India. Cyber security experts have been dealing with the threat quite effectively. However, with exposure of links with RedFoxTrot the threat level has gone several notches higher. The firm operates on a much bigger scale and can easily employ newer technologies in cyber espionage. Building a multi-tier security network remains the only shield from this new threat.
