In the presence of all sitting judges of Bombay High Court led by Chief Justice Dipankar Datta, 10 additional judges were sworn in as permanent Judges of Bombay High Court on Tuesday morning. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the oath-taking ceremony was held at Nagpur, Aurangabad, and Mumbai and was watched live digitally by the legal fraternity. Justices Avinash Gharote, Nitin Suryawanshi, and Anil Kilor were sworn in as permanent judges of the Bombay High Court at a simple but impressive ceremony at HC Auditorium, Nagpur. Senior Administrative Judge Sunil Shukre administered the oath.
As per the set procedure, Registrar Sanjay Bharuka read out the notification, authorisation and appointment orders of each of the three judges who were administered oath at Nagpur. The ceremony was witnessed by former Chief Justice Bhushan Dharmadhikari, all the sitting judges of the Nagpur bench, many former judges, High Court Bar Association office-bearers, Law Officers of the State and Centre, and family members of the judges. The High Court administration had made elaborate arrangements for the oath ceremony keeping in mind COVID-19 protocol. The judges posted at Aurangabad and Mumbai benches were administered oath at the respective benches. Those who were sworn in include Justices Avinash Gharote, Nitin Suryawanshi, Anil Kilor, Milind Jadhav, M G Sewlikar, V G Bisht, Bhalchandra Debadwar, Mukulika Jawalkar, S P Tavade, and Nitin Borkar. Justice Gharote, Justice Kilor, Justice Jawalkar, and Justice Borkar hail from Nagpur bar and performed very well as lawyers and later on the judicial side as well.
