Bharatiya Janata Party MLA Ajay Vishnoi, on Saturday extended gratitude to Prime Minister, Narendra Modi for giving berth to as many as 27 Member of Parliaments, belong to Other Backward Classes (OBC) in the new cabinet. Addressing a press conference organised by party's Pichhda Verga Morcha, Vishnoi said the move has ensured due respect to the party leaders of the category. He said in India, nearly 52 percent of the population comes under other backward class in terms of the population. In the annals of independent India, there were 15 Prime Ministers in the country. Intermediate governments were formed on the basis of caste, but no government cared about the backward classes and considered them just vote bank. There are some regional parties in national politics which emerged on basis of caste, such as Bahujan Samaj Party, Samajwadi Party, Rashtriya Janata Dal etc.

They took political advantage on basis of caste and did not make any effort for upliftment of the caste. Vishnoi said in the year 2014 when Narendra Modi took oath as the 15th Prime Minister of the country, since then, equal concern has been given to the people of every caste, religion including general category, OBCs, Dalits, Adivasis etc. He said Prime Minister has realised that this category has not been able to get representation in proportion to the population. Hence, during the first tenure, he approved the formation of the National Commission for Backward Classes by presenting the 123rd Constitutional Amendment Bill in the Parliament in the year 2017.

Along with that, constitutional status was given to the Commission so that people of this category could get due benefits. Vishnoi said Prime Minister Modi has expanded the first cabinet of the second term of his government on July, 7 in which a total of 43 MPs administered the oath of office and for the first time 27 OBC Ministers from 15 states were included in new cabinet.
