‘Ranking on search results is combination of various techniques’

MIDC Industries Association (MIA) Hingna and GIZ India under the ‘Digital Marketing Webinar Series’ recently conducted the final webinar on the topic ‘Tips and tricks to rank your business website on top of the search results’. The expert speaker for the session was Shishant Mahato, professional digital marketing trainer and founder of Digital Magnet. C G Shegaonkar, President of MIA Hingna, initiated the event by welcoming the speaker and all the live participants of the webinar. Dr Ravindra Aher from GIZ India introduced the online participants to the speaker Shishant Mahato and shared his professional background. Mahato initiated his presentation by explaining about how a search engine works. He explained as to how each time when a search query is entered, how the search engine determines taking into consideration various factors, which results to rank on ‘Search Engine Results Page’ based on information to be showcased as per the search query of the user.
 
He shared some useful behind-the-search process working of search engines which is like how initially bots/crawlers using AI searches the internet database and fetches useful information as per each search query. Each information or content pieces that is added through the business website/page on the internet as per some specific guidelines are indexed and stored in the database for retrieval whenever a search query is generated related to it, he added. Accordingly, he gave information regarding the various Google Algorithm updates like Panda, Penguin, Pigeon and Hummingbird that keep coming at regular intervals and which determines the various strategies and factors that should be applied to rank the page on top of the search results.
 
He explained the Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) factors which are classified into on-page and off-page, and which are important for getting organic ranking on the search results. On-page SEO includes factors that are to be integrated and improvised on the particular website for improving the rankings like keyword selection, Alt tags, Meta description tags, header tags, title tags, content and internal linking. Off-page SEO includes factors that are to be improvised on other mediums for improving the rankings like blog posting, video and article submission, social media posting, social bookmarking and press release. He emphasised that along with SEO, ranking on search results is a combination of various other techniques. He appealed to all participants especially businesses that ranking on search results is a long and continuous process and one should not leave it midway.
 
“If you are able to consider all these factors and are able to reach out to your target audience, then ultimately business is bound to grow,” he added. C G Shegaonkar thanked the speaker for covering good topics and giving great insights for businesses especially MSMEs through these webinars especially at a time when business dynamics are changing and more and more people are going digital. Dr Ravindra Aher said that under MIA-GIZ IFC more industry related programmes are being planned and will be conducted in the coming days. He also proposed the vote of thanks.
