NAGPUR’S only Grandmaster Raunak Sadhwani celebrated his quarter-finals berth in the online Junior Speed Chess Championship by winning his first two rounds of the Serbia Chess Open 2021 - Masters at Metropol Palace Hotel in Belgrade. Sadhwani has been ranked 26th among 300 chess masters including many IMs and GMs in the nine-round competition. At end of the second round, the chess wizard was on full two points and was 31st among 40 players who won both their games.
In the second round, playing with white pieces, Sadhwani (2555) got the better of compatriot IM Mullick Raahil (2386). In the opening round, played on the 26th board, Sadhwani proved to be too good for Austrian FM Kruckenhauser Arthur (2283). In the third round, the 15-year-old Sadhwani will take on another Indian Pranav V (2366) on board number 14.
