The National Statistical Office (NSO), established by the Government of India in 1950, conducts surveys on various socio-economic subjects through scientific sampling methods. Qualified and trained officials of the National Statistical Office collect information through specially designed schedules for these surveys. In this sequence, the second round of Annual Survey of Unincorporated Sector Enterprises will be conducted from 01 April 2021 to 31 March 2022. Due to Covid-19 pandemic, the survey work will start from July 21 instead of April 21. For the first time, Annual Survey of Unincorporated Sector Enterprises was conducted from October 2019 to March 2020 across the country. In this survey, an all India survey will be conducted on non-agricultural enterprises for manufacturing, trading and services in the unincorporated sector in urban and rural areas of the country.
This survey, being conducted on an annual basis by NSO, will provide operational and economic details of non-agricultural enterprises apart from information about the economic status of enterprises engaged in manufacturing, trading and services in the unincorporated sector, which will be used at the national and state level for the estimation of national income, gross fixed capital formation, input-output analysis etc. National Statistical Office, Regional Office, Raipur is organising a state level training conference to train officers/employees for the second round of annual survey of unincorporated sector enterprises from 05.07.21 to 07.07.21 at Hotel Kingsway, Telibandha, Raipur in which the officers and staff of all the National Statistical Offices located in Durg, Bilaspur, Ambikapur and Raipur in Chhattisgarh State will be imparted training.
The State Level Training Conference of this survey was inaugurated by Chief Guest Dr K Subramaniam, Member, Chhattisgarh State Planning Commission, on 05.07.21 at Hotel Kingsway, Telibandha, Raipur by lamp lighting ceremony. The programme was presided over by Roshan Lal Sahu, Deputy Director General, National Statistical Office, Regional Office, Raipur. S K Tiwari, Assistant Director, Press Information Office, Raipur was also present as special guest. Addressing the programme, Chief Guest Dr K Subramaniam, underlined the importance of surveys conducted by National Statistical Office in nation building and said that majority of the population of the country is engaged in unincorporated sector enterprises and hence, the role of this survey in policy planning becomes more especially during the Covid-19 period in which this sector has been severely affected.
At the same time, he stressed on the quality of the data so that we can make better policy with accuracy of data and can formulate better welfare plans for human resource working in this sector by assessing their needs. Presiding over the programme, Roshan Lal Sahu, Deputy Director General, National Statistical Office, Raipur said that the unincorporated sector enterprises contribute very significantly to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the country. For reliable and consistentdata in this sector, a countrywide annual survey of unincorporated sector enterprises is being conducted by the Government of India in which the unincorporated enterprises in manufacturing, trade and service sector will be surveyed through samples selected on the basis of scientific method. In the present survey, a total of 16,356 samples will be surveyed at the all India level and 384 samples will be surveyed in Chhattisgarh State.
