SENIOR Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Aswathi Dorje will take over as Joint Commissioner of Police shortly. Her husband Chhering Dorje, also a senior IPS officer, will be the next Special Inspector General of Police (Nagpur Range) in place of Chiranjeev Prasad who has been promoted to the rank of Additional Director General (ADG) and transferred to State Reserve Police Force (SRPF), Mumbai. Prasad replaces Archana Tyagi who will now take over as Joint Managing Director of Maharashtra State Police Housing & Welfare Corporation Ltd, Mumbai. The Home Department effected transfers of senior police officials on Monday.
The post of Jt. CP, Nagpur Police, was vacant for more than one year after superannuation of Ravindra Kadam in May 2020. Aswathi Dorje, an IPS of 2000 batch, was earlier working as Director of Maharashtra Police Academy, Nashik. She had previously worked in the city as a Deputy Commissioner of Police. Cherring Dorje, who too is of the same batch, was Special IGP (Correctional Service), Mumbai. Deputy Inspector General of Police (SRPF) M R Dhurye, from Nagpur, has also been transferred to Mumbai as Additional CP (Crime).
