FORMER Vidarbha player Aniruddha Chore is making waves in Ireland cricket league. The wicketkeeper-opener has been doing exceedingly well in the shorter formats for North Down Cricket Club in his first year as a professional player. Chore’s unbeaten knock of 85 took North Down to final of the Challenge Cup One-day Tournament in progress in Belfast, Ireland. At their home ground Green Comber, chasing Instonians’ score of 209-9 in 50 overs in the first semi-finals, North Down cruised to the target in 45.2 overs losing three wickets. Riding on contributions from O Metcalfe (35), J Hunter (46), S Getkate (21), A White 29 and B Rose (24*) Instonians crossed the two-hundred mark. P Davison (3-45) and T Mayes (2-38) were the successful bowlers. Man of the match Chore secured one end and remained unbeaten on 85 that came from 112 balls as North Down romped home. . He hit seven boundaries and shared partnerships with A Shields (20), G Maneeshan (46) and P Eakin (39). North Down will meet CIYMS, who thumped CSNI by 142 runs, in the final to be played on August 13. CIYMS made 260-6 while CSNI were shot out for a meagre 118 as M Adair (4-23) and G Kennedy (4-34) wreaked havoc.
