Over 54 per cent students had cracked the second National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) that was conducted by Council of Architecture to get the admission to the architecture courses. Over 8,000 students had missed both NATA, but the Chairman of Council of Architecture took the initiative to give the students chance to appear. COA has been conducting NATA since the year 2006 for admission to First Year of 5-year B.Arch. degree course at architectural institutions throughout the country. Since Habib Khan has taken over as Chairman, the Council is making progress. This year Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), National Institutes of Technology (NITs), School of Planning and Design have decided to accept students clearing NATA. It was a landmark decision as these institutions had been refusing to accept NATA as the valid test for the admissions to architecture courses being run by these institutes.

The First Test was conducted by the Council on April 10, 2021. The second test of NATA 2021 was successfully conducted by the Council on July 11, 2021. Third one was held on Friday. The third NATA was held wherein the attendance of 92% students was registered. The test was conducted at 181 centres in 151 cities across India and in 6 international cities. The test was held without any technical snag. Habib Khan while talking to ‘The Hitavada’ informed, “Result of the third NATA will be declared on September 8 which will be put on display on NATA portal at www.nata.in. For candidates who have appeared in two tests, the best marks secured in the two attempts shall be taken as the valid score for admission to B.Arch course.”

Habib Khan pointed out, “We believe that NATA is an aptitude test and shall evaluate the aptitude of a candidate to study architecture. NATA has been designed to assess the aptitude of candidates using different testing formats and techniques. We are hopeful that NATA will help us identify who have real aptitude to study architecture. Architects play a major role in the development of a nation. I am sure our future architects will help our country become a world leader soon.”
