If bad roads were not enough, the mega makeover process of Nagpur city seems to have added to dark spots on various stretches making life more difficult for people. Monsoon and the associated troubles refuse to be history, notwithstanding investment of crores of rupees in upgradation of infrastructure in city. On the contrary the huge pillars of Maha Metro that have sprang up on prominent stretches of city pose a new set of challenges for the road users. At a few places, the standalone pillars having sizable thickness are blocking the line of vision of approaching vehicles thus increasing the chances of smash-up. Subhash Nagar T-point: Among the spots that could be added to list of such spots is one at Subhash Nagar T-point where confusion prevails everytime one takes a turn to move onto Hingna Road from Ambazari side. In case a vehicle is coming from opposite direction and is in speed, chances are bright of stalling or near collision. Further upending the challenge is road topography as there is an up gradient while moving onto Hingna Road while the down gradient accelerates the power of while approaching Subhash Nagar T-point and attempting a right turn towards Matey Square. And during either of time the sight of drivers and riders is blocked due to metro pillar whose position is slightly tilted that creates the problem.

Dhantoli Police Station Junction: More prominent spot is the one bang opposite Dhantoli police station where daily traffic snarls are common now-a-days. Ever since the metro pillar came in place bang in middle of the road, road traffic has never been smooth in the area as used to be. Here to road topography presents typical hurdles and on top of that the metro pillar sorts of acts as an impediment in the smooth flow of traffic. Also the sight of people coming from down gradient towards upper side from below the Dhantoli RuB is blocked due to slightly tilted metro pillar leaving one fumbling for cue after landing on the top in middle of the square. Kriplani Square: The opening of new road through middle of Central Jail has created another problem spot, the Kriplani Square. During the night time, the danger of smash-up is quite high, and this has been proven by spate of mishaps recorded at the spot in night time due to poor visibility and again due to positioning of metro pillars.

The vehicles coming from Ajni side and on way towards Deekshabhoomi are not visible until they emerge onto Wardha Road junction making braking a real hard task for whose heading from Rahate Colony. Another stretch that is perennially busy is near Takia Slums in Dhantoli and here to while taking a right turn towards Lokmat Square one comes across barrier due to problem with line of sight as presence of metro pillar makes turning a task quite difficult. As the rush to hospitals in Dhantoli areas the motorist and two wheeler riders have to be extra alert or end up victims of mishaps. Atrey Layout: Similarly the establishment of a generator set on the media in Atrey Layout stretch of Ring Road has also added to blind spots in the city. Many a time people has complained but authorities have not paid any attention. The box housing the machinery for the telecom tower is such wide that crossing the road is not without risk. Since vehicles coming from Rana Pratap Nagar Square are in great speed, people have no clue of approaching vehicle due to blocking of sight. On Hingna Road also problem persists at Rachna Station as road users do not have clear view of passing vehicles while emerging from Hingna side and attempting to take a right turn towards the station building. Trouble is also brewing for people of Manish Nagar due to construction of RuB from Wardha Road to provide uninterrupted connectivity with the highway.

As the RuB emerges on side of Manish Nagar those attempting right turn towards Somalwada railway crossing are heading blindly onto the T-point. The height of RuB has increased chances of mishaps at the spot as visibility is near zero. When contacted, Maha Metro said so far they have not been notified of any issues relating to line of sight by any of the agency, like Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC), National Highways who are responsible for maintenance of these roads. The spokesperson, Akhilesh Halve, Deputy General Manager, Corporate Communications, further added that metro has finished their construction and handed back roads to respective agency and they can be reached for any issues. Moreover in case citizens have any issues they can provide their suggestions and metro will sit with officials of other agencies and study the problems.
