A student of Indian Institute of Information and Technology (IIIT), Nagpur has bagged an internship package of Rs 25 lakh. This student will receive a stipend of Rs lakh per month during his internship. The institute has made six-month internship in last semester mandatory for which students have to go through tough tests.
Very few institutes in India practically follow the idea of Industry-Institute linkage. IIIT-Nagpur is one of those few institutes which has made six months of last semester mandatory for internship in industry. Of course, getting internship in renowned industries is not an easy task. Students have to go through a tough test and face interview then only they get to do the internship. Students of IIIT-Nagpur getting a stipend of Rs 61,000 per month to Rs 2 lakh per month has become a regular feature.
The record of placement, too, is very meticulous. Its placement officer Prof Meera Jagdale keeps track on the institute’s student and guide the students studying accordingly, informed Prof K N Dakhale, Registrar.

As its Director Dr Omprakash Kakde rightly pointed out, “The Institute has entered into 6th year, and within a short span of 5 years not only started operating from its Permanent Campus but also became one of the most sought after Institutions for the students of the country interested in pursuing UG Degree in Information Technology Domain. IIIT Nagpur has got very good placement record for the first two batches in spite of completing their degree during pandemic. Average placement for the first batch was about 73% and for the second batch was about 85%.
The Maximum Package received by its Students is Rs 46.75 Lakh/Annum and the Average Package is Rs 8.44 Lakhs/Annum. The placement of Current Batch is about 73% as on date with maximum package received by a student is Rs 40 lakh per annum and average package is Rs 9.79 lakh per annum.”
