NATIONAL Accreditation and Assessment Council (NAAC) has awarded A+ grade to Kavikulguru Kalidas Sanskrit University (KKSU), Ramtek. The grade points the university scored is 3.42. It is a big leap for KKSU as in last NAAC report it was awarded B++ grade and it had scored one point less than its score in present NAAC inspection. In last week of December 2021, a 4-members NAAC team led by Prof Dharmarajam P K, ex-Vice Chancellor of Shri Shankaracharya Sanskrit University, Kaladi, Kerala, had inspected campuses of KKSU at Ramtek and Waranga. The team did the educational, research and administrative assessment of university.
The other members of the team were Prof Upendrakumar Tripathi of Banares Hindu University, Prof Ramakant Pandey of Central Sanskrit University, Delhi; Prof Prahlad Joshi of National Sanskrit University, Tirupati; Prof Kamakhya Kumar of Uttarakhand University, Haridwar. When Prof SrinivasaVarakhedi had taken over asVice Chancellor of KKSU about four years ago, the university had already got the report of first NAAC. “We had decided to get our second NAAC inspection done early than the scheduled one. Accordingly our team started working on it since 2018. When the NAAC team visited our University we were ready to answer any query. Our team endeavored to achieve excellence and I attribute the complete credit of our A+ to our team members,” said Prof Srinivasa Varakhedi while talking to ‘The Hitavada’. KKSU in last four years is constantly growing.
Right now it is number one in all the Sanskrit Universities in India and sixth in all traditional universities including agriculture ones in Maharashtra. During the tenure of Prof Varakhedi, the university witnessed rise in number of affiliated colleges, courses and students’ number. University has set up Extension centres, four sub-centres, international study centre, open and distance learning centre and has spread the canvas of university. Prof Varakhedi had entrusted the responsibility of NAAC inspection to Prof Nanda Puri, Dean of Sanskrit Faculty and Head of Sanskrit Language and Literature Prof Kavita Hole. All the deans and other professors made their presentation in an effective manner.
