For giving boost to faster rollout of the power infrastructure, State Government changed the rules pertaining to erecting transmission of lines and pylons so that farmers and land owners get fair compensation.
A major change finalised by State cabinet at its meeting held on Wednesday say the amount of compensation will double the ready reckoner value of the land. Inter alia, the State Government also mentioned that average rate of purchase and the sale of land in the last three years, or the ready reckoner, among the two whichever is more would be offered to person whose land is needed for erection of power lines and pylons.
The decision would enable faster rollout of stalled projects pertaining to laying of high voltage power lines in the State. A release from Chief Minister's office mentioned that the revision in rules for land acquisition would giving fillip to power generation projects proposed in different parts of State.
Though only a small land parcel is required for right of way to affix the transmission pylons for erecting the hi-voltage lines, the farmers are affected as number of times the power lines bi-sect the farm land and criss-crossing underneath is a risky affair. Therefore the decision to raise the compensation since land is not acquired for the power transmission line. The amount of compensation will be decided by a committee headed by Deputy Divisional Officer and same is to be monitored by Principal Secretary of Energy Department.
The cabinet noted moved by Energy Department said, the compensation amount will double according to new formula, means double the rate of land prevailing in ready reckoner or average rate of purchase during the last three years, and in this case whichever amount is more would be payable to land owners. The new policy is meant for ultra-high voltage transmission line of 66 KV or more.
There will be 30 per cent compensation for the land covered under the transmission lines.
Meanwhile, former Energy Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule said the decision of State Goverment on revision in rates of compensation for land owners would dilute the opposition of land owners.
