Nagpur has topped in Maharashtra in issue of validity certificates during the ‘Service Fortnight’ that concluded recently. Interestingly, out of top five districts in the State, three are from Vidarbha region.
Of a total 24,084 validity certificates issued across the State during the fortnight, as many as 9,095 were issued in 11 districts of Vidarbha. Thus, 37.76 per cent of the certificates issued in the State were issued from the region alone.
Surendra Pawar, Deputy Commissioner, Social Justice and Special Assistance Department, and Member, District Caste Certificate Verification Committee, told ‘The Hitavada’ that it was indeed a good achievement that his office was able to issue these many validity certificates in a span of 15 days.
As many as 1,819 caste validity certificates were issued to the beneficiaries in the fortnight from September 17 to October 2. As a precursor to this drive, the District Caste Certificate Verification Committee conducted a training workshop for 384 Nodal Officers and employees from various colleges, regarding online submission of forms for caste certificate validity verification, and how to get the forms filled properly. Besides, the officials held awareness
workshops in 12 colleges and guided 3,350 students regarding the procedure, application form and related matters.
“All these enabled us to receive duly filled forms in proper format. As a result, we were able to verify the caste validity faster and issue the validity certificates faster. During our visits to colleges also we distributed 200 validity certificates to students concerned,” Pawar said.
Interestingly, Nagpur is not the only district from Vidarbha region that has performed well in issuance of validity certificates during ‘Service Fortnight’. Out of top five districts in Maharashtra, three are from Vidarbha. Apart from Nagpur, which has topped the State, the other two Vidarbha districts in top five are Amravati and Chandrapur.
